Man sentenced to 5 years for Lockport gas station holdup

LOCKPORT – A man who robbed a Lockport gas station at knifepoint last year was sentenced Wednesday to five years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

David P. Smith, 41, who was homeless in Lockport at the time of the Jan. 10, 2015, robbery, has been in jail ever since. He held up the former Sunoco station at South Transit and High streets. Besides the five-year term imposed by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon, Smith owes about two years for violating parole on his sentence for a 2007 burglary conviction.
