After more than 30 years in the national spotlight, actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg has continued to be entertaining and opinionated during her career. Now a co-host on ABC’s “The View,” Goldberg brings her comedy to Niagara Falls for a show at 8 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center.
Joining “The View” in 2007, Goldberg is perfectly suited for the talk show’s format of women talking about the social and political issues of the day and is unafraid to voice strong (and sometimes unpopular) opinions. Her voice carries through off the air as well, as she is an advocate of LGBT rights and AIDS awareness.
Goldberg first made her mark with audiences with a supporting role in Stephen Spielberg’s 1985 drama, “The Color Purple,” in which she was nominated for an Academy Award. She would later win an Oscar for 1990’s “Ghost,” and she’s starred in several other notable comedies like “Jumping Jack Flash” and “Sister Act.”
As a comic, she was synonymous with Robin Williams and Billy Crystal as co-hosts of the long-running “Comic Relief” specials on HBO. Goldberg is one of the only entertainers to win the revered EGOT – an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.
Tickets for the SEC show range from $55 to $95 and are available at the casino box office or Ticketmaster online.
