Original Honey’s closes in Niagara Falls

The Original Honey’s restaurant has closed its Niagara Falls location.

The bar and grill is located at 6560 Niagara Falls Blvd., near the Fashion Outlets of Niagara. A status update posted to its Facebook page Monday morning thanked patrons,

“Thank you everyone for your support over the years!” it read.

Third-generation owner Larry Pacifico could not immediately be reached for comment.

Another location, at 4300 Maple Road in Amherst, is still open. It closed briefly last month when it was seized by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for unpaid taxes. That location was owned by Pacifico’s mother, who died in October.

Honey’s restaurant first opened in 1962 and was a mainstay in Niagara Falls’ “Little Italy” neighborhood on Pine Avenue near 27th Street. It was known for the giant, illuminated elephant sign outside the building.
