JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown couple was arrested Friday during an early-morning raid on their East Sixth Street residence by agents of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, State Police and Jamestown Police SWAT team.
Clarence C. Carte, 41, and Maranda L. Lopez, 29, were taken into custody and a quantity of prescription pain pills and amphetamine tablets were seized as evidence. Both were charged with felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for sales purposes and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Lopez also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child because agents found her two young children in the house.
Both suspects are being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending court proceedings and the two children were turned over to county child protection workers.
Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department noted the two suspects were arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation of illegal narcotics activity in the Jamestown area.
