Deputies put out fire at Lockport apartment complex

LOCKPORT – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies used fire extinguishers Friday evening to put out a fire in an apartment complex at 6281 Robinson Road.

Deputies arrived shortly after 6 p.m. to find the hallways filled with heavy smoke. Members of the Rapids Volunteer Fire Company assisted in removing all the residents of the building.

The residents of the complex were allowed to return to their apartments after the building was cleared of smoke but the people who live in the affected apartment were going to stay with relatives.

There was no immediate estimate of damages and the cause is under investigation.
