Dennis C. Martin of Elma and Siesta Key, Fla., a financier with a long career in Buffalo’s financial services sector, died Monday in Philipsburg, St. Martin. He was 66.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Martin graduated from Canisius High School in 1967. He graduated from Canisius College in 1972 and received his master’s in business administration from Canisius in 1977.
After working at Goldome Bank and General Electric, he started working for Strategic Investments & Holdings Inc. in Buffalo in 1985. In a 30-year career there, Mr. Martin was involved in the acquisition of more than 80 companies. He served on the boards of many of the companies after they were acquired. At the time of his death, he served on the board of Carolina Skiff, based in Waycross, Ga., and Microcision, based in Philadelphia.
He was an avid golfer, traveler and chef. He was a member of East Aurora Country Club and Gators Creek Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla.
In addition to his wife, the former Sandra Frydrychowski, Mr. Martin is survived by a daughter, Ashley; son, Ryan; brother, Robert; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the auditorium of Canisius High School, 1180 Delaware Ave.
