SUNY minimum wage hike will raise cost of education
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced the State University of New York employee minimum wage will rise to $15, raising the cost of education, and therefore, burdening future students with increased debt.
The goal must be to make education more affordable – not less – in order to lower – not raise – tuition. SUNY needs to seek annual cuts, but instead it seeks tuition raises without the need to get State Legislature approval.
It’s already hard enough being young and trying to make it in this economy without our governor and public university making it harder.
