Tonawanda man given 30 months for dealing party drug

The party drug known as “Molly” led to a 30-month prison sentence for a Tonawanda man Tuesday.

Alexander R. Filippone, 24, had previously been convicted before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara of conspiracy to distribute methylone.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel said the defendant sold the party drug to an undercover police officer in commercial parking lots in Tonawanda and Amherst. Methylone can cause seizures, hallucinations and death in some cases.

Filippone’s sentence is the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations and State Police.
