Henry Johnston, Sr. "Hank, The Hammer" CARNEY

CARNEY - Henry Johnston, Sr. "Hank, The Hammer" Age 78, Tonawanda, Monday, January 11, 2016, surrounded by family at home after lengthy illness. Born on February 7, 1937 in Indiana, PA. Hank attended a one-room school house and enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, playing solitaire, and telling stories. Hank retired from Consolidated Freightways where he worked as a dockman for 35 years. Hank served his country with pride in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Leon fire department. Survived by wife, Catherine (ne;e Conklin) of 44 years; son Henry (Carrie, Reilly, Reagan), daughter Melissa Michael (Lynton, Brett, Ethan), and nephew Walter Cline. Hank's family was centered in Pennsylvania and he thoroughly enjoyed visits with them as much as possible. Viewing at Wedekindt Funeral Home, 3290 Delaware Avenue, Kenmore on Friday, January 15 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial to be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi in the City of Tonawanda. In lieu of flowers, donations to or Roswell Park Cancer Institute would be greatly appreciated by the family.
