The Buffalo concert, part of a 15-date national tour, should be a fine placeholder while local alt-rock fans dream of warmer weather and the inevitable return of the station’s Kerfuffle summer festival later this year.
The concert will be headlined by Cage the Elephant, returning to town less than two years after delivering an electrifying performance at Alt Buffalo’s inaugural Kerfuffle at Canalside.
The Kentucky group ended 2015 with the release of its fourth album, the Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys)-produced “Tell Me I’m Pretty.” The band’s awaited return should have local fans excited and eager to hear the new material in a live setting.
Joining Cage the Elephant will be Los Angeles’ Silversun Pickups. The post-grunge act has been floating around since the mid-2000, breaking through with its 2006 debut record “Carnavas,” a nostalgic collection of fuzzy and distortion heavy melodies that recalled the likes of the Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine
Rising UK dance rock act Foals and Brooklyn electro-rockers Bear Hands, the latter making its seemingly yearly stop in Buffalo, will round out the bill.
Tickets for Spring Fling 2016 at the First Niagara Center will go on sale on Jan. 15 for $43 and $33 (Tickets.com).
