Royalton holding town logo contest for bicentennial

ROYALTON – The Town of Royalton will celebrate its bicentennial in 2017 and is holding a contest to create a town logo. Town officials are looking for an image that honors the community’s history and captures its pride and strength.

The contest, sponsored by the town’s bicentennial committee, is open not only to Royalton residents, but to any Niagara County resident. The winning image will be the official logo of the Royalton bicentennial celebration and will be used to publicize the town’s events, activities and projects.

The winner receives $100, while the runner-up gets $50 and two honorable mentions will be picked for $25 apiece.

Entries must be submitted by April 8. Entries may be mailed to the Royalton Bicentennial Committee, 5316 Royalton Center Road, Middleport, N.Y. 14105 or submitted at Royalton Town Hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or submitted by email to:

The contest winners will be contacted by April 20 and will be invited to attend the May 9 Town Board meeting to be presented with their awards by the bicentennial committee.

Design guidelines dictate that the logo must include: “Town of Royalton,” “Bicentennial,” and “1817-2017.” It must be simple enough to be reproduced clearly in small size, such as on a lapel pin or key chain. Graphics should be representative of the town, including such ideas as its agricultural nature or the Erie Canal.

Only one entry is allowed per person and all artwork must be original. Entries may be in black and white or color and must be submitted on an 8½-inch-by-11-inch sheet of white paper.

The contestant’s name, address and phone number must be printed on the back of the entry and the contest entry form must be included with the artwork. Entry forms may be found on the town’s website at:, under local events, or by emailing a request to:
