Vacant East Side house destroyed in arson

Someone intentionally set an early-morning fire at a vacant home on the city’s East Side, the Buffalo Fire Department said.

The blaze at 556 Wilson St., just west of Fillmore Avenue and south of Genesee Street, was reported at 3:45 a.m. Thursday.

When firefighters arrived, the boarded-up, two-story home was engulfed in flames. Investigators have listed the cause of the blaze as arson.

Damage to the building was estimated at $30,000.

The fire department was still on the scene as of 6 a.m.
