An elderly woman drove into the First Niagara Bank branch at 2300 Grand Island Blvd. Wednesday afternoon, slightly injuring a bank employee, Grand Island fire officials reported.
Jean Niland, 87, of Grand Island, was parked in front of the bank shortly before 4 p.m. when she accidentally crashed through one of its plate glass windows, Fire Chief Matt Osinski said.
Bank employee Eva Sander, 41, suffered a minor injury and was taken to an urgent care center by a family member. Niland was not injured.
Bank manager Mike Samland said there was considerable interior damage to the bank but it was able to open as usual on Thursday.
