UB student-athletes hit combined 3.0 GPA for 8th semester in row

The University at Buffalo announced its student athletes compiled a combined 3.065 cumulative grade point average for the fall semester. It marked the eighth straight semester UB student-athletes have surpassed the 3.0 combined mark.

Women’s tennis claimed the top spot for the fall with a 3.578 team GPA. The women’s tennis team’s GPA improved from 3.223 in the spring semester to also take the most improved crown among all programs. The men’s basketball team had the most improved GPA among the men’s teams after improving from a 2.479 GPA in the spring to a 2.795 GPA in the fall.

Overall, 12 teams had a 3.0 grade point average or better – women’s tennis (3.578), women’s cross country (3.481), men’s soccer (3.359), women’s soccer (3.351), men’s cross country (3.273), women’s swimming and diving (3.229), women’s basketball (3.221), women’s rowing (3.213), women’s track and field (3.208), women’s volleyball (3.120), men’s swimming and diving (3.104) and softball (3.064).

The department had 23 individuals with perfect 4.0 GPAs and 114 others that were 3.5 or better. In all, 315 of UB’s 505 total student-athletes (62 percent) reached the 3.0 plateau.
