Community invited to learn more about policing in Niagara County

LOCKPORT – Applications are available for the upcoming Niagara County Sheriff’s Community Police Academy that provides county residents with information on a variety of police topics, from firearms simulation training to an emergency vehicle operator course.

Classes for the free, 20–week program begin at 6 p.m. on Feb. 18 and continue on Thursday evenings until May. Each class is about three to four hours long and meets at the Public Safety Building, 5574 Niagara Street, Ext.

Applications are due by Feb. 6 and are available at www.niagaracountysheriff.com. If you have a question or need an application mailed to you contact Capt. Patrick Weidel at 438-3331 or Deputy Pat Williams at 523-0098.

You must be at least 20 years old to participate, reside or work within Niagara County and have no prior felony convictions or outstanding warrants. Class size is limited.
