Two Buffalo-area nonprofits are among eight finalists contending for $20,000 in grants from the First Niagara Foundation, in an online voting competition related to mentoring.
The two organizations in the Buffalo Niagara region are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County, and the Northtowns Boys and Girls Club.
Individuals whose lives were impacted by mentoring were asked to create and submit a 90-second video about their mentoring experience, and nominate a not-for-profit organization that offers mentoring services in First Niagara’s service area.
The public can see the videos and vote on First Niagara’s Facebook page. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 1. The organization that receives the most votes will receive $10,000; second place will receive $4,000; and the other six will each receive $1,000.
