Get the kids out to enjoy nature by taking a hike outdoors at the Genesee County Park (11095 Bethany Center Road, Bethany). Hikes begin at the Interpretive Nature Center. First time? No problem, they’ll give you a lesson on how to walk in snowshoes. After the walk, warm up with some snacks back at the nature center. Snowshoes are provided or you can bring your own. Walks are from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 9. Pre-registration is required by calling (585) 344-1122. Great for all ages. Cost is $5 per person or $15 max per family.
Check out the children’s skating class at Rainbow Rink (101 Oliver St., North Tonawanda) on Jan. 9. A certified instructor will teach your child the basics of good skating including starting, stopping and balance in a fun atmosphere. Cost is $6 per person (skates are extra). Lessons are from 11 to 11:45 a.m. It’s a great way to get the kids moving.
If you’ve never taken your family to a Buffalo Bandits lacrosse game, you might be surprised at just how fun they are. Tickets start at just $21. The team will take the field at 7:30 Jan. 9 for the home opener against Calgary. It is a fast paced, action-filled evening at First Niagara Center sure to get the kids on their feet.
