Calvin Love adds show in 9th Ward at Babeville

After getting a quick introduction to the Queen City this past fall touring with power-pop artist Mikal Cronin, indie crooner Calvin Love will return to Buffalo in a headlining role early this year at Babeville’s basement venue, the 9th Ward (341 Delaware Ave.), on Feb 1.

The former Canadian punk artist’s debut album “Super Future,” a collection of playful, late-night numbers infused with retro synths and teasing melodies, was released last June on influential Toronto label Arts & Crafts to positive reviews.

Recalling an eclectic array of acts like Mac DeMarco, Phoenix and Bryan Ferry, the suave songwriter has been an artist to watch for a few years in the suddenly hit making scene of Edmonton, Alberta.

Tickets are currently available for $8 (box office, Ticketweb); the show will cost $10 at the door.
