Bozek’s goal lifts Beauts

Wins have been difficult to come by for the Buffalo Beauts, so Sunday’s win was particularly welcome.

The Beauts defeated the Boston Pride, 4-3 in overtime, in Boston on Sunday afternoon. It improved the team’s record to 2-7-2, and was its first win in a month. Buffalo’s last victory came on Dec. 6 against the New York Riveters.

Megan Bozek had the winning goal for the Beauts, with the score coming at 3:41 of overtime. Emily Pfalzer and Meghan Duggan had the assists.

Buffalo fell behind, 2-0, in the first 10 minutes of the game. But a short-handed goal by Hailey Browne got the Beauts going. Brown added another score in the second period, and Devon Skeats gave Buffalo the lead with 10:08 left in regulation time. But Brianna Decker tallied with 4:16 left in the third period to set up overtime.

The Beauts play in Connecticut next Sunday night.
