Albion man accused of setting housemate on fire

An Albion man received a rude awakening Thursday morning when his housemate set him on fire, village police said.

Police were called to 431 West State shortly after 5 a.m. where they found a man standing in the middle of the street with a knife in his hand.

Frank G. Carter II, 50, of the same address was taken into custody without resistance. Carter was charged with attempted arson, assault and reckless endangerment.

The victim suffered burns to his hands and feet and was transported to Medina Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said Carter poured a flammable liquid on to the victim, who was sleeping in a bed, and then ignited the liquid. The victim was awakened and able to get out of the bed, police said.

Carter was remanded to Orleans County Jail on $25,000 bail.

He is due back in court at 9 a.m. January 6, 2016.
