Celebrate the season at Beaver Meadow (1620 Welch Road, North Java). The End of the Year Family Fun Day is from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 30. Looking for something indoors? Take the kids to check out the Garden Railway Exhibit at the Erie County Botanical Gardens (2655 South Park Ave.). Adults and kids can enjoy the exhibit, as well as the annual poinsettias show, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 3. Cost is $9 for adults, $8 for students 13 and older, $5 for ages 3-12 and free for ages 2 and younger.
More trains will be on display at the Buffalo History Museum this week. The train display includes 1900s replica model trains running on more than 200 feet of track, as well as 100 miniature buildings portraying 19th century Buffalo and Western New York. You can check it out from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 29-30 and Jan. 2. Cost is $7 adults, $5 for students, children 7-12; $2.50 and kids under 7 are free. Admission also includes all of the museum’s current exhibits including Inside Tim Russert’s office. Call 873-9644.
At Tifft Nature Preserve (1200 Fuhrmann Blvd.), all ages are welcome for hands-on indoor and outdoor activities celebrating the wintry weather from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 2. Pre-registration is required by calling 825-6397. All ages are welcome. Cost is $5 per person.
