HarborCenter hasn’t been a particular friendly place for the Buffalo Beauts women’s hockey team to play this season.
The Beauts fell to 0-6 on home ice Sunday with a 7-3 loss to the New York Riveters. Buffalo is 1-7-0-2 overall, while New York moved to 3-5 in the four-team league.
The game was tied briefly at 1-1, as Kelley Steadman scored a power-play goal in the first period. But New York went ahead for good when Meghan Fardelmann made it 2-1 late in the period. The Riveters then scored the next three goals to blow it open at 5-1. Kourtney Kunichika tallied late in the second period to cut the margin, and Devon Skeats moved the Beauts a bit closer at the start of the third period. But the Riveters added two more goals to complete the scoring; Fardelmann finished with a hat trick.
Buffalo will play in Boston next Sunday against the Pride.
