Prepare to greet Young Man Winter.
Overnight rain is expected to taper off Sunday morning, giving way to an overcast day and a drop of temperatures nto the 30s on Sunday afternoon.
Though Monday will begin mostly cloudy, later in the day will likely experience a mix of sleet, freezing rain and wet snow, with the high only about 32. Most of the wintry mix is likely to hit after dinner.
“It’s something that’s about two months overdue,” said Bob Hamilton, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
The overnight low Monday will be in the upper 20s. Any lingering mixed precipitation will most likely change to rain on Tuesday, with a high of about 45 degrees.
We can expect a chance of showers Wednesday, followed by a chance of rain and snow showers Thursday. New Year’s Day is likely to be partly sunny.
