Four students in Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management took first place at the Smith Travel Research’s inaugural Market Study Competition held last month in New York City.
Niagara seniors Jenna Roberts, Carl Bailey, Adam Zarczynski and exchange student Fabian Lehmann spent two months preparing a comprehensive analysis of the Buffalo area hotel market.
Finalists were selected from 27 leading hospitality schools which picked a major metropolitan area to research and analyze. The Niagara University team was among six finalists who presented a 30-minute presentation to judges.
Dr. Kurt Stahura, dean of Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management said the competition validates the importance of analytics and market research in their curriculum. He said their students are sought after when they leave the university because of their “excellent academic preparation, experiential training and exhibited professionalism.”
