St. Vincent de Paul does wonderful work
As we approach Christmas, I am gratified to read and hear about all of the generous people who come forward to help those in need during this season. I am more grateful, though, for the active presence of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in our area, which not only feeds the hungry at its dining room in downtown Buffalo but also helps the needy throughout all of Western New York, not just at Christmas, but all 12 months of the year, with furniture, food, clothing and other necessities.
What makes the St. Vincent de Paul Society unique is its willingness to visit people in need in their home, regardless of the neighborhood, hear their story and offer whatever help it can. The group truly does amazing work and because it purposely keeps a low profile, it is underrecognized, in my opinion, for the tremendous work it does.
