Pearl Street Grill & Brewery's mainstay beers will be available along with two seasonal selections: Lord Stanley Scotch Ale and Gingerbread Cookie Brown Ale.

Lord Stanley contains rich candy malt character with a little smokiness and alcohol on the palate. Gingerbread Cookie Brown Ale is a classic English Brown ale with added ginger, allspice and cloves. The beer is then finished with vanilla beans and smells reminiscent of a gingerbread cookie.

Mama Said Knock You Stout
3 p.m. Dec. 26
Coles, 1104 Elmwood Ave. (886-1449)

Coles on Elmwood will present old-school hip-hop music and imperial stouts. These dark beers are characterized by high alcohol-by-volume and plenty of malt character. While the taste of hops is largely absent, it's replaced by strong roasted chocolate and burnt malt flavors.

Coles will be featuring such stouts as Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and Westbrook Mexican Cake.

Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout is brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year. Goose Island Bourbon County Stout contains charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke aromas and flavors.

And Mexican Cake is an imperial stout that is aged on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks and fresh habanero peppers. '80s and '90s hip-hop music will playing as patrons drink the imperial stouts.

Brews News

Anheuser-Busch – InBev has acquired its seventh craft brewery, Breckenridge Brewery. This is its sixth purchase of a craft brewery in the past five years.

Breckenridge Brewery will join Goose Island Beer Company, Blue Point Beer Company, 10 Barrel Brewing, Elysian Brewing Company, Golden Road Brewing and Four Peaks Brewing Company as part of Anheuser Busch – InBev’s craft-beer portfolio. This buyout continues a trend of large-scale brewers acquiring smaller rivals as the demand for craft beer increases.
