Two days until Christmas, and the Buffalo area saw record warmth.
Wednesday's temperature reached 61 degrees at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, breaking the record high of 59 set in 1957.
The unusually warm temperatures for December continue. On Tuesday, the area set a record for the warmest low temperature. The thermometer dipped only to 47, outpacing the previous record of 46 from 1990.
Also as of Tuesday, Lake Erie - at 42 degrees - was 5 degrees above normal, , said National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Welch
In terms of precipitation, there will be some rain showers tonight and tomorrow, along with some breezy conditions. There will also be rain from late Saturday afternoon until mid- to late-morning on Sunday, Welch said.
Forecasters predict above-normal temperatures over the next couple weeks, though some cooler air will arrive Monday. The high temperature that day is expected to be 40.
