ASHVILLE – A Jamestown woman fell asleep at the wheel and sheared off a utility pole Monday afternoon on Route 474 in Chautauqua County.
Debbie Slagle, 49, was driving west around 2:30 p.m. when her vehicle went off the south side of the road and struck the pole, which caused utility lines to droop in the area, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Slagle, who was uninjured, told deputies she fell asleep, the sheriff’s office reported.
A few minutes later, another driver coming down the roadway hit the low-hanging lines, but was uninjured.
Slagle was ticketed for failure to keep right and was issued an appearance ticket for North Harmony Town Court.
