Buffalo police on Monday identified the man fatally shot on Busti Avenue Saturday as Edgardo Ortiz of Buffalo.
Ortiz, 26, was shot at about 2 p.m. in the 400 block of Busti, near Hudson Street. He died shortly after being shot, police said.
Police sources said the shooting stemmed from an earlier disagreement at a coin laundry.
Ortiz’s Staffordshire terrier, which he was walking at the time, also was shot and is expected to survive. She is being cared for by the SPCA Serving Erie County along with her six puppies, believed to be about three weeks old.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Buffalo Police confidential tip line at 847-2255.
