Buffalo sending three start-ups to competition

Three technology start-ups from the Buffalo Niagara region will get the chance to make a pitch for funding at a technology conference in New Orleans at the end of April.

The Buffalo Niagara region is one of eight regions selected to participate in the Launch Pad Pitch competition that will be held during the Collision international tech conference from April 26-28.

The three local start-ups will be selected by local organizers, which include 43North, Launch NY, the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise and the University at Buffalo. The organizers also include the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and the Western New York Innovation Hot Spot, among others.

Companies that wish to compete in the contest must not have raised more than $3 million in funding. The contest’s local organizers said they will release more details on the application process, set to begin on Jan. 13, in the coming weeks.

Other cities participating in the Launch Pad Pitch competition include Charleston, S.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; New Orleans; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; and San Antonio, Texas. One other city will be announced later.
