Falls man charged with assault in casino slashing

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man faces a felony assault charge in the aftermath of a knife attack at Seneca Niagara Casino early Saturday.

About 4 a.m., Walter L. Baldwin III, 30, was charged with second-degree assault, accused of slashing a 37-year-old Garden Avenue man in the face during a dispute.

Police said the two had had a confrontation in the casino, then walked outside where Baldwin produced a folding knife and swung it at the victim, according to reports. The incident was captured on surveillance video, police said,

The blood-covered knife was recovered at the scene, police added.

The victim – his face badly bloodied – left the scene and was later questioned by police at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Police said he is refusing to cooperate with the investigation.
