William J. Davis Jr., structural engineer, Navy veteran of World War II

Sept. 26, 1925 – Dec. 14, 2015

William J. Davis Jr., who spent more than four decades working as a structural engineer, died Monday in the McAuley Residence in the Town of Tonawanda after a short illness. He was 90.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Davis went to Technical High School and graduated from the University at Buffalo with an engineering degree. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Davis was a partner in Kirchner & Davis, an engineering firm that was located on Main Street in Williamsville. Among the projects he worked on during his 41-year career were Churchill Academic Tower at Canisius College and the Center for the Arts at UB’s North Campus, which was the last project he worked on before he retired in 1990.

Mr. Davis was also an avid runner.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Anne M. Fischle.

Mr. Davis is survived by three daughters, Amy Rubacky, Peggy Smering and Jeni Davis; a son, Peter; and six grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville.
