The centerpiece of the festival, timed to coincide with Torn Space's own summerly site-specific theater piece, will be a short run of "My Voice Has an Echo In It," an immersive, six-hour performance by the New York City-based company Temporary Distortion. The show will run Aug. 18 to 20 in an unnamed venue.
The piece, according to a Torn Space release, "features a six-hour durational performance of live music, spoken text and video set within a freestanding, soundproof environment." Audiences will watch performers through two-way mirrors as an eclectic mix of music and ambient sound effects plays, creating what Torn Space called "an intimate concert atmosphere where everyone has a front-row seat."
Torn Space's own summer project, as yet untitled, will run concurrently in one of the grain elevators at Silo City and aboard the SS Columbia, a historic passenger boat now docked in a state of disrepair on the Buffalo River.
