Preserving memorial is the right decision
Citizens Advocating Memorial Preservation (CAMP) applauds the Cattaraugus County legislators who, at their year-end meeting on Dec. 9, voted not to demolish the Cattaraugus County Memorial and Historical Building in Little Valley.
CAMP hopes to show the other legislators how preservation, not demolition, is the better decision.
CAMP’s mission is to help Cattaraugus County officials explore all possible options for the preservation, rehabilitation and reuse of its unique Civil War Memorial for the benefit of the county, its residents and visitors, while at the same time saving part of Cattaraugus County history for future generations.
CAMP looks forward to having open discussions with legislators in 2016 and together finding a way to save and reuse this memorial, dedicated Sept. 7, 1914, to veterans of the American Civil War and to honor their wish that it forever stand.
