Kirk S. Carey, a Vietnam War veteran and a retired Erie County employee, died Sunday in Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 67.
Born in Buffalo, he enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from East High School and served as an airplane mechanic in Vietnam.
After returning to civilian life, Mr. Carey joined his father in working at Bethlehem Steel. After the plant closed, he became a security guard at General Mills, then worked as a guard for 15 years for the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library.
Survivors include his stepmother, Magnolia Crane; two sisters, Sandra Clark and Gloria; and his fiancée, Margaret Wilson.
Services will be held at noon Saturday in MacAlpine Presbyterian Church, 2700 Bailey Ave.
