A judge on Thursday sentenced a Buffalo-area home-improvement contractor to nearly a year in jail after he failed to abide by a previous court order.
State Supreme Court Justice John F. O’Donnell sentenced George Anna to 360 days in jail, according to State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman’ office.
Anna, who was sentenced to 90 days in jail earlier this year, was ordered in 2012 to post a $100,000 performance bond after the State Attorney General’s Office found he was taking payments but not providing home-improvement services.
Anna still hadn’t posted a bond as of May of this year, and again in August was still “ripping off customers,” Schneiderman’s office announced Thursday.
Schneiderman’s office moved to have Anna held in criminal contempt of the court’s order, which lead to the most recent sentence.
