North Tonawanda man goes to prison for choking his mother

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man was sentenced this week to 1½ to three years in state prison for choking his mother during an April 8 argument.

Duane E. Andrews, 39, of Oliver Street, had pleaded guilty Oct. 19 before Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree strangulation.

In another sentencing by Sheldon, Jermainel D. Pryor, 26, of Niagara Falls, drew three years’ probation for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Pryor, who originally was charged with selling crack cocaine to a police informant in the Falls July 7 and 10, 2014, also must repay $80 to the county Drug Task Force.
