Artisans have always been a well-known commodity at East Aurora’s Roycroft campus, but those who don’t think of the expanse as a haven for musicians would be mistaken.
Concert bands, marching bands and German bands have historically filled the Elbert Hubbard loyalists’ oasis with sounds as creative as its distinctive woodwork. And over the last few months, a new crop of local musicians have resurrected the tradition, dubbing themselves “The Lounge Lizard Society” as they’ve taken up residency at the Roycroft Inn’s Craftsman’s Lounge on the third Thursday of every month.
Dec. 17 is one of these Thursdays. In the spirit of the holidays — and as a lead-in to East Aurora’s massive “Carolcade” outside Vidler’s on Dec. 19 — the Rob Montone-led Lizards will join in to help patrons loosen their vocal cords with bohemian-style Christmas favorites appropriate for the season. It’s a collaborative experience, and one that’s complementary to the community spirit always more evident during holiday festivities.
Music goes from 5 to 9 p.m. Attendees should bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit FISH of East Aurora’s work with needy area families. The concert takes place in the Craftsman Lounge at the Roycroft Inn (40 S. Grove St., East Aurora).
