West Side gang member, two associates plead guilty to drug, firerarms charges

A member of Cheko’s Crew/7th Street Gang and two gang associates pleaded guilty to drug and firearms charges before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara Tuesday.

Gang member Luis Mendina, 24, and associates David Tirado, 29, both pleaded guilty to racketeering influenced corrupt organization (RICO) conspiracy charges. Alejandro Navarro-Gonzalez, 30, an associate who supplied the gang with heroin to sell on West Side streets, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin.

When the three are sentenced in April Medina and Tirado face prison terms of up to 20 years and fines of up to $250,000 each. Navarro-Gonzalez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a possible life term and a fine of up to $8 million, according to U.S. Attorney Williams J. Hochul Jr.
