Niagara Falls man sentenced to 12 years in shooting case

LOCKPORT – Arthur B, Ray III, who pleaded guilty to shooting a man who was dating Ray’s former girlfriend, was sentenced Monday to 12 years in state prison.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon tacked on five years of post-release supervision for Ray, 35, of Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls, who had pleaded guilty Oct. 6 to a reduced charge of attempted first-degree assault.

The maximum sentence for that charge is 15 years, but Ray faced a possible 40-year sentence if he had been convicted at trial on the original charge of attempted murder.

Ray shot Henry King, 40, on Feb. 19 in the woman’s home on South Avenue in the Falls.
