NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara Falls police said Monday that they have identified the person who slapped a disabled man in a video that has attracted wide attention.
Police also said they have two names for the female involved and also believe they have identified the person who filmed the incident.
Police are still reviewing footage of the incident and hope to make an arrest this week and bring felony charges against those involved.
The Police Department received more than 100 phone calls with information after video surfaced last week of a mentally and physically disabled man known as “Billy” being slapped by another man.
The outpouring of information shows the concern Falls citizens have for victims like Billy, said Niagara Falls Police Chief of Detectives Kelly J. Rizzo.
“For members of the NFPD, that is the silver lining to this grotesque incident,” Rizzo said in an email.
