Michael P. McNamara, 54, of Lancaster, an aerospace engineer for Moog Inc. and Calspan, died Friday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a long battle with colorectal cancer. He was 54.
Mr. McNamara was born in Buffalo and graduated from Cleveland Hill High School in Cheektowaga and with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University at Buffalo.
He worked in testing and research for the aircraft group of Moog Inc., East Aurora, from 2011 until this past year. He worked in the wind tunnel at Calspan, Cheektowaga, from 1983 to 2011.
“He was a very dedicated employee,” said his wife, Lynn M. McNamara. “He was always the go-to person.”
She said despite a four-year battle with cancer, he overcame a lot of obstacles and was able to return to work.
Mr. McNamara enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing and boating, as well as time at the Honeoye Lake cabin of his father, John.
He and his wife, the former Lynn Sieroslawski, were married 20 years.
In addition to his wife and father, Mr. McNamara is survived by a son, Evan; two daughters, Ashley and Jocelyn; and four brothers, John, Joseph, Thomas and David.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 950 Losson Road, Cheektowaga, with prayers at 9:30 in Melvin J. Sliwinski Funeral Home, 5090 Transit Road, Depew.
