Lancaster High School students are well known for their baking energy when it comes to their Cookie Marathon this time of year.
Last week, the Student Union tweeted out a call for volunteers to help bake cookies for the Cookie Marathon this coming week, and noted where they could sign up at school.
Well, the resulting interest spanned far beyond Lancaster.
Greyhound STUCO (San Benito, Texas) follows the district’s Twitter and asked about the cookie marathon. By the time the districts were able to connect after Thanksgiving, it was too late to set up a friendly competition this year between the two schools, but the idea is being explored for a possible future bakeoff.
Also, a Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) outreach runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 21 Central Ave. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. All applicants will be interviewed. For questions or additional information, please call the HEAP Hotline at (716) 858-7644 or HEAP Application Request Line at (716) 858-1969.
And Lancaster Town Clerk Johanna M. Coleman announced that anyone wishing to serve on a citizen’s board or commission within the town is requested to submit a letter to the Town Board by Friday. Letters should be received at the town clerk’s office in Town Hall.
• The Village Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building, 5423 Broadway.
