Letter: People convicted of crimes should not receive pension

People convicted of crimes should not receive pension

I agree with a recent editorial that elected officials should lose their pensions after being convicted, e.g., Assemblyman Sheldon Silver. Their pensions should be taken away to repay any ill-gotten gains. Seizing the pension from someone who no longer deserves it is definitely poetic justice for me.

I congratulate U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara for his diligence in going after all the corrupt politicians who seem to think they are above the law.

They continue to steal and rob and make laws to protect themselves, but for some reason they have not righted a wrong for a widow who has not been able to collect her husband’s pension for the last nine years. He never committed any crimes, yet they keep their pensions. What a mockery. So the fight continues.
