Jerome F. Nosky, credit union president, autoworker

Jerome F. Nosky, a longtime president of the Woodlawn Auto Workers Federal Credit Union, died Wednesday at his Buffalo home. He was 83.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Nosky attended Canisius High School and enlisted in the Navy after graduation. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1956.

After his military service, Mr. Nosky worked for 44 years at the Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn.

He volunteered at Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School in the early 1970s and later became president of the Father’s Club, where he was instrumental in organizing the group’s yearly lawn fetes.

He joined the Woodlawn Auto Workers Federal Credit Union in 1977, becoming president in 1979. Mr. Nosky held that post until his death.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, the former Grace Neu, he is survived by sons, Jerry and William; daughters, Mary, Dianne and Grace; and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1140 Abbott Road.
