Carol May Horvath, Brighton Paint Supply owner

Nov. 24, 1932 – Dec. 8, 2015

Carol May Horvath, of the Town of Tonawanda, owner of Brighton Paint Supply, died Tuesday in her son’s home in Seneca Falls. She was 83.

Born in Buffalo, the former Carol May Curry was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Stratford Business School.

Mrs. Horvath worked as a secretary at Sisters Hospital and Blue Cross, then founded Brighton Paint Supply at Brighton Avenue and Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda in 1956, selling paint, wallpaper, art supplies and picture frames. She moved the business to the garage at her home in 1992.

She was active as a volunteer with the Church of the Nativity, Friends of Night People, Meals on Wheels and other community organizations.

Her husband, George, died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Gary and Glen; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Church of the Nativity, 1530 Colvin Blvd., Town of Tonawanda.
