DAY, John A. "Jack"
DAY - John A. "Jack" Age 72, passed suddenly on Monday, December 7th, following his return from a warm visit with his son, Scott (Patty) Day. A respected US Army veteran, Jack went on to spend a majority of his career employed by Buffalo Forge Co. Following the birth of his son, he built a life with his wife, Shirley Day (Johnson). They lived modestly in the Tonawandas and proudly raised daughters, Susan Day (Greg) Popp and Kimberly (Jeff) Day. Of his many titles, Grandfather may have been Jack's favorite. He was a devoted son to both the late S. Betty Day and the late June "Ma" Soucise, whom he would often credit for saving his life. Jack is survived by sisters Jane Spencer and Amy Keller. He is also leaving behind his dear companion, Pat Wolfley and her son Rich with whom Jack spent many evenings. Pat took care of him whether it be by filling his belly or his heart. Every Sunday at 10 A.M., you would find Jack sharing breakfast with his daughters and their families, where often sought "Daddy-isms" would be shared and held in the highest esteem. He was a man of integrity and always unassuming. It was his character to give more than he had while asking only for your happiness in return. A quiet man, his wishes for no memorial service will be honored. If heaven was a place of one's choosing, Jack is now seated comfortably on a warm porch drinking a cup of coffee. Therefore, in lieu of any flowers or donations in his name, the family asks that you simply enjoy a good cup of coffee and maybe even take a nap; because "there's no sense in going to bed tired."
