LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda woman was grateful to State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. for sending her to state prison Thursday.
Kloch imposed a sentence of 1 1/3 to four years on Denise M. Beebe, 43, of Payne Avenue, who had pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and a probation violation on a previous Erie County conviction for a felony count of driving while intoxicated. She was arrested July 8 in the Town of Niagara.
“The best thing for her is to go to Albion (Correctional Facility) to dry out,” Kloch said. “She needs a more structured environment. … Don’t you think that’s the right thing to do?”
“I do, Your Honor. Thank you,” Beebe replied.
The judge said even Beebe’s time in Niagara County Jail since her arrest has helped her. “She looks healthier,” Kloch said. “She looks younger.”
