It’s Christmas time in the suburbs.
And for those who can’t make it to the Theater District for Mannheim Steamroller in Shea’s Performing Arts Center or “A Christmas Carol” in the Alleyway Theatre, MusicalFare Theatre is offering two weekends of live holiday music in its classy yet casual cabaret space.
The holiday programming begins at 4 p.m. Dec. 12 with “A Big Band Holiday,” an eight-piece big band led by local trombonist and composer-arranger Phil Sims, with repeat performances at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 2 p.m. Dec. 13.
MusicalFare regulars Theresa Quinn, John Fredo, Amy Jakiel and Randall Kramer will be joined by Peggy Scalzo for two performances of “An Old Fashioned Christmas” at 4 and 8 p.m. Dec. 19.
The glass-enclosed cabaret space, complete with a bar and art gallery, has hosted dozens of music and theater acts since it opened last April as a way to augment and diversify the company’s more traditional stage performances. Tickets are $25 for “A Big Band Holiday” and $20 for “An Old Fashioned Christmas.” Call 839-8540 or visit musicalfare.com.
