EDMONTON, Alberta -- It will be Chad Johnson vs. Anders Nilsson in a battle of red-hot goalies tonight in Rexall Place as the Sabres meet the Edmonton Oilers. Both players started the season as the clear backup on their teams, but Johnson has thrived since early November in the wake of Robin Lehner's injury while Nilsson has taken over due to Cam Talbot's struggles.
Johnson is 3-0 in his last four appearances with a 1.13 goals-against average and .955 save percentage. Nilsson has stopped 80 of 83 shots (.964) the last two games to beat Boston and Dallas. The Oilers were outshot, 43-24, in Friday's overtime win over the Stars but got 42 saves and snuck out with a win.
The Sabres are keeping the same lineup tonight as they had in Friday's win over Arizona. That means Cal O'Reilly will be the healthy scratch tonight. Coach Dan Bylsma said with three games in five days on this trip, however, that it's possible O'Reilly could see action.
The Oilers' lineup is on hold until the warmup. Jordan Eberle and Oscar Klefbom both sat out practice yesterday but were listed as probable for tonight's game. We'll see.
